Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join our leadership team. This is a hands-on role that will manage all aspects of our organization's financial and accounting functions. The ideal candidate is a meticulous and strategic-minded professional who can handle day-to-day bookkeeping tasks with precision while also providing high-level financial insights to guide our strategic decisions.  Experience working within the Odoo ERP is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting and Bookkeeping Operations

  • Manage all accounts payable and receivable functions, including vendor payments, customer invoicing, and collections within Odoo ERP. 
  • Process payroll in an accurate and timely manner and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Perform daily and monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial data.
  • Manage expense reports and employee reimbursements.
  • Oversee all aspects of financial record-keeping and ensure that all transactions are properly recorded and classified.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.
  • Develop and maintain financial dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track financial performance.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis and commentary to the leadership team to support decision-making.
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analysis as requested.

Strategic Finance and Planning

  • Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process in collaboration with department heads.
  • Develop and maintain long-term financial models and projections.
  • Manage the organization's cash flow and prepare regular cash flow forecasts.
  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors and manage the annual audit process.
  • Provide strategic financial input on issues affecting the organization, such as new business opportunities, contract negotiations, and capital investments.
  • Advise the leadership team on financial strategy, risk management, and long-term financial planning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 2 years in a senior or leadership role.
  • Proven experience in a small to mid-sized organization where you were responsible for both hands-on bookkeeping and high-level financial strategy.
  • In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Expert proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to a non-financial audience.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
